Well, I know I just posted about the 5k, below...but I have just registered for another 5K. So as of right now I'll be running 6 5K races in April (not counting the one below)! Methinks I'll be retiring the current running shoes a bit early at the end of April!
Anyways, I signed up a 5K that benefits the Loudon County Battered Womens' Shelter. Thing is I'll have to drive over 40 miles just for the race! A little past Leesburg and practically right next to West Virginia!

I will admit one big reason I signed up for this one (since I hadn't heard about it otherwise), and that was I was searching to see if Volkswagen America was sponsoring any races in the area (since their HQ is in Herndon)...and lo and behold I found this.
Bonus:
Technical Tee for the race (sure to have VW on it)!
Negative:
No headphone use...grr...that will the make the race a bit more grueling/long for me!
Oh well, here's to 30+ kilometers next month!

Possible 5K
So, I'm about to start the month of a 5K every Friday evening in my neighborhood. I already to plan to run all 5...but have come across this race which would be on a Sunday following the last Friday 5K. I normally don't like to run races so close together; but I think I may an exception for this one:
Race for Hope - Fight Against Brain Tumors

That being said, I may try to actually raise a bit of money in addition to my registration fee. I'll be sure to keep you posted...and if anyone wants to come cheer me along in DC that Sunday, that would just be bonus! :)

MLS season kicks off
So, DC United kicked off it's season tonight and the club had an official viewing party (since the game was in Kansas City), at a bar in DC (very close to the White House no less). I decided to roll solo after not finding anyone to go with me...and proceeded to win a raffle @ halftime! I actually won an autographed mini soccer ball! Oh, and got a free United beer cozy when I had entered the raffle. Very cool...and even better that I actually scored a seat @ the bar!
That being said, we got spanked 4 to freakin' 0 by KC!
Blah...
PS...way to go West Virginia!

New rubber for the road
It's amazing how fast I've gone through shoes since I really kicked my running into high gear a little over 3 years ago. Well, I already foresee needing some a new pair by late spring, and had been lusting over some new technology Nike has put out within the last few months...just didn't want to spend the $100 the shoes retail for. So I did tons of scouring on the 'net trying to find a good deal...and lo behold I scored the shoes locally! I actually wanted to buy them from the local running store that organizes the races I run...but they are out and claimed these things are on national backorder. Long story short...went to Sports Authority with a $25 coupon on hand...and found some marked down to $79...you do the math!

Four Miler Photos!
I made it in 3 of them. I love the photographers the organizers have been hiring this year...they take a ton of great photos and put the original files online for all to grab. :)

Time to divide and conquer...
So here it is...after my many 5Ks, I'm finally going to leave my little 3 mile comfort zone and tack another mile on it. Mikey is ready to celebrate St. Patty's Day by killing himself on the hill of north Arlington:
No matter what, I do end up with a killer tech tee outta the deal:
I can't to rock this on the Mt. Vernon trail and see if anyone takes me up on the offer. haha
