100 miles!

So yeah, I have the Nike + Sport Kit for my iPod. Basically it works with a tiny transmitter you place in your shoe and tracks distances and times while you run. Well, I bought it back in November as I was getting back into running after my surgery...and today upon syncing it to the computer, Nike informed me I just hit 100 total miles. Not to mention I also completed a goal of running a certain amount in 4 weeks.

Isn't technology grand?

Totally kicked the butt of my previous 5k finish times (which usually averaged over
30 minutes). I'm so stoked I did so well and anxiously await another 5k to sign up for!

24 hours

From now, I should be dead tired...anyways, I'm super excited to be doing a 5k again...it's been 3 years (or more) since my last one. Not going for speed, I just want to finish it without walking.

Big news!

I'm finally going to run a 5k again...and in the very near future! This Saturday to be precise. Again, another reason to love living in Crystal City...the "Crystal City Twilighter", a 5k starting @ 8pm...it will be nice and cool outside. The race will be going through my neighborhood, up by the Pentagon, and back again. One awesome thing is that I've convinced a friend to run with me...so let's hope she can keep up...although she's been marathon training...so I think she'll kick my butt (she doesn't seem to think so though). Although I think my own butt will be kicked after the 2.5 mile mark (out of 3.1), since that's the farthest I've been running lately. Either way I plan to really push it out though, so we'll see!

Besides that, I'm going to see "The Dark Knight" tomorrow night...I so can't wait.

The Box is back

So, my XBox 360 is already back in my hands. With the quick turnaround I was so hoping for a new model...but no, my hopes were dashed when I recognized the serial number. Although they did give me a free 1 Month XBox Live card...which really doesn't matter since I still intend to get rid of it...even if this game announced @ E3 makes me want to keep it:

In other news, I'm off to meet my brother tomorrow for a weekend with my grandparents. Can I survive a weekend in the country and not miss DC? I'm sure...since I'll be with some very loved family members. :)

Ahhh...I forgot about them.

So yeah, I never took the SATs back in High School. Currently browsing Amazon for a couple study guides...gotta get it out of this out of the way so I'm good to go when it's time to start applying for schools.

Boo Microsoft

So my second XBox 360 has gone the way of the DoDo...being sent back to Microsoft as we speak.  So, instead of dealing with this again, I'll be dropping the 360 from my collection.  So from this point on I will be Playstation 3 and Wii only....oh, and must not forget the DS and PSP.

So yeah, good bye XBox...I had some really awesome times with you...but with me playing less and less of this stuff it just makes sense to say goodbye to you.  I wonder how much Gamestop will give me for trade in?

New GI Bill

OMG...I've never been this excited about old Dubya signing something into law...like ever! So if you haven't heard, the new GI Bill basically gives anyone who has served at least 3 years active duty military since 9/11 to what basically amounts to a full ride to a school of their choice. Here are some choice details:

-Tuition paid upfront to the school at the beginning of each term
-Capped at the tuition cost of the most expensive public school in the state
-More expensive schools offering veterans scholarships will be matched dollar for dollar
-Books/Supplies: $1,000/yr. paid upfront and divided by academic term
-Plus a $1,000/month for living expenses

So yeah, they say it will take the VA sometime to get this program in place...but once they do I want to be one of the first ones in line. Bye bye I.T., hello to my dream job teaching! It will take me longer than most, but I am so determined to get there.

Oh, and I'd like to thank both of Virginia's Senators (especially the Bill's founder, Mr. Webb) for honoring the vets of today with this beautiful piece of legislation.
