Finally...a video for "This Is It"

And with all of the end of year retrospectives, I'm feeling the pain of the world losing MJ all over again. Be sure to watch the video directed by Spike Lee...just in case it gets pulled:

Official snow total

20.5 inches! I seriously think that is the most snow I've ever been around in my life. Although there was a time when I was outside Philly back in 2000...but I think that was only a foot.

Snowed in...

Relaxing in the new apartment...meanwhile in preparation for tonight's game, here is a lovely article on New Orleans and the Saints effect. I really wanna go down and visit. Have not been since pre-Katrina.

There are at least 2 reasons I love this commercial

Thanks...

Happy Thanksgiving all! I'm thankful for my small, but oh so full of love family. Also all of my friends literally around the world, being employed, living in this fine metro area, and most of all, all the men & women of the US military. I love you all!

Another Capitals Game

So yeah, it just plain old pays to know the right people. A friend of mine invited me out to another Washington Capitals hockey game earlier this week. Of course, I was all about going and was all ready to pay. Although get this, I went for free...and sat in the club level of Verizon Center! So it was me, my friend, and around 6 Canadian guys...all expenses paid! Here's a couple pics from the phone...and yes, we won. After all, the Caps are DC's one good major league sports team.

Ft. Hood

"These are men and women who have made the selfless and courageous decision to risk and at times give their lives to protect the rest of us on a daily basis. It's difficult enough when we lose these brave Americans in battles overseas. It is horrifying that they should come under fire at an Army base on American soil."

A litte more to the story...

Well, I kept going back and forth the last few months leading up to Halloween, on what I wanted to be. I ended up going full circle back to my original choice, that being Michael Jackson. Although I did have the grand idea of going as "Smooth Criminal" Mike, but I was finding it hard to find all things in white I needed after Labor Day. So I decided to go with "Beat It" Mike instead. I took liberties with the outfit though...I had the red jacket, but not the blue shirt he wore under it...I actually had the white piano/musical notes T he wore in the beginning of the video, then I finished off the look with a skinny black pants, sequined glove, a black fedora, and some aviator sunglasses. I must say, all the effort was worth it...

Fast forward to heading out last night...M Street into Georgetown was pretty damn backed up, so me and friend Larry (dressed as a fly Snoop Dogg, pimp-style) walked across the Key Bridge from VA into DC. Here's where it got cool...got random "Hi Mikes" to "Hee-Hees" to even a couple people stuck in traffic on the bridge wanting a picture I was walked by. This trend continued into the bar, Rhino, where more pics were taken...dancing ensued (although I guess I shoulda requested the DJ to play "Beat It", but I assumed he had me...but he didn't). It was an awesome time...and a fitting tribute to a guy who's music I grew up on...not to mention making an effort to seeing "This Is It" earlier in the afternoon. Now here's the kicker...I didn't bring my damn camera...so as of now I only have the shot you see above! :( I'm seriously considering putting something up on Craigslist asking if anyone would like to the photos, because I must've been in at least 10 shots!

Oh, and in the biggest shock of the night...I was the only MJ! I thought for sure there would be a few...but nope...at least not in that little corner of Georgetown.

Oh, and thanks to Larry, Tigger, Randi, Jenny, Bobby, Ronnie, Marquis, Karin, and the coolest bartenders, Justin and Jeff...for making it even a cooler night. Oh, and the girls who danced with a real Michael (yes, I did get a kick out of the fact everyone already "knew" my name).

Hee-hee!

And here it is...I could not believe I was the only MJ in my bar last night! I was literally a star...heck, there should be all kinds of pictures on the internet with me in it...since quite a few girls (and some guys) wanted a picture with Mike. :)

Halloween secrets

So, the Halloween costume is in my hands...all ready for the shenanigans on Saturday. What is it you ask? Well, that's a secret that I've told no one! You'll have to wait for the photos to service. Speaking of which, here's one of yours truly:

Blah...it seems as I get older I loathe the colder months more and more. Maybe growing up in Mississippi for a time got me used to that beautiful deep south weather. Well, enough about that...not much going on, so I thought I'd share some recent photos of yours truly:

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

So the one time I did hang...

...with someone this past weekend, I went with my friend Cameron to the Eastern Market in DC. It's an awesome area with local produce, food, assorted odds and ends, and art! I happened to see the attached art of the corner out of my eye. My favorite artist combined with my favorite city...SOLD!

Not much to say

Gonna be moving up one floor to a renovated place in my building in December. Now, I'll be facing work....joy. The new place will be nice...but I will be losing about 50 sqft.

In other news, even after 31 years on earth, I just can't figure some people out. I was really liking this girl you've seen in some of my recent pictures...but she has gone totally left field these last couple weeks. So...won't be hearing much about that...so please don't ask. And no apologies from you dear readers needed...just from her...cause I sure don't owe her one; being I have no earthly idea what caused her attitude change.

The Weekend's Plans

So, if you didn't catch 2 posts ago, I have deleted my Twitter. I just thought it was maybe a bit too much insight into my daily activities. How many times do you really want to see that I'm all sweaty for running, going to Rhino, or watching football?

Anyways, have another busy weekend ahead of me. I have a 5K tomorrow morning as part of the Clarendon Day festival (Clarendon being a neighborhood in Arlington). After that, I come home and pack and then head to Ocean City, MD for H20i, which is a VW festival/show. Get to see lots of old friends from the Hampton Roads area, not to mention some cool cars. Then I should be back in time for at least Sunday Night Football.

Don't worry, I'll be safe and responsible...after all, I'm XXXI now. Haha

2 more pics!

Just uploaded two more pics to the birthday photo album. I must say, I really like these ones especially. :)

Birthday 2009

I'd like to point out, that yes, I can smile!

Think I'm done

Well, my attention span has run out on Twitter. I'm seriously considering canceling my account...but have no fear, if I do I (kinda) promise to update the blog more. haha

The birthday

Well, another birthday has come and gone. This one was a lot more bearable than last year now that I had already passed the 30 milestone last year. Not much to mention about my little party...kinda miffed that that some people couldn't come out; but I was quite satisfied with my little group. And the choice of venue. We basically had 2 couches and a table to ourselves in the middle of the place...anyways, on to some of the photos. More to come when my friends upload their photos.

More soccer

So, I can't get enough of D.C United...and hanging out with this friend of mine. Don't mind the lack of smiling in the first photo...I really was happy.

This picture on the other hand is getting all sorts of love on Facebook. This was taken on the train ride back that night...all alone in the train car...and you can see the aura of content on my face (and a bit of ye olde sleepiness). =)

9/11 5K Video

I'm no where in it...but it helps show the atmosphere.

Shenanigans

So, another Labor Day has come and gone. For those looking at the Twitter feed, you may have seen me talk about how I had the best Sunday night in long time. I won't divulge too many details, but it did entail getting dressed up:

Then hitting a swanky little club in the heart of D.C. With the cutie below:

After closing that down, the hunger hit, and at her suggestion we went the a diner. This place litterally called, "The Diner". Another funny thing about this place, we actually had to stand in line behind a velvet rope! It was just like waiting outside the above club...but just to get some greasy breakfast @ 4AM! Then I proceeded to fall asleep on a futon in a 100+ year house...woke up, said my goodbyes, then did a little walk a couple blocks to the Metro.

Yes, I love this town...and I must say, I like hanging out with this girl. :)

Sunday, September 6, 2009

The results are in...

658th place (out 2285 runners) Race time: 26:34

So yeah, quite pleased with the results..considering I thought I did a lot worse. The race itself was nice...and I hope I can share some pictures soon, once they put them online. For now, you'll have to deal with this:

Arlington 9-11 Memorial 5K

It's today @ 6PM. In other news, I'm so thankful this 5k is in my neighborhood. Why you ask? Because my Metro stop and the 2 surrounding my stop are closed ALL holiday weekend! Anyways, here's the back of the shirt I received for signing up for the run:

Quick Note

Just contemplating if I should "give up" on the one "crush" I've mentioned here? I honestly went down to see her this past weekend...with a side visit to the family in the cards. Now granted the trip was a bit last minute, nevertheless we did make some pretty official plans. Those plans did end up going by the wayside though as she changed plans on me. I will say, I'm not too miffed though, only because they were for family...if she had brushed me off for mere friends it would've been more of a grrr moment for sure. That being said, you would think one could make some time, no matter how little, for a friend coming in from out of town.

Oh well, we'll see what happens in a few weeks...when she is due to come up here.

The 5K....and the rain

Well, the one 5K I was looking forward to all year finally arrived yesterday...along with this:

Let's just say I ran my first 5K in the rain. Which a normal runner would love...but it meant I couldn't use my iPod. You see, listening to music helps the time go by...and not having it made the race drag. That and since it was raining it was like a mini game of hurdles between me and the runners trying to avoid the biggest puddles. Anyways, I only felt my "hurt" leg for a little bit during the start and a tiny bit at the end...but I did put in a time right over 30 minutes...about 5 minutes slower than my average. I guess that's not too bad, considering I haven't really been running in over a month.

Oh, and bonus for having a low race number (55)...when the race had over 2,000 runners!

Palm vs Apple vs Palm

So, with my new Palm Pre it was pretty awesome syncing with iTunes with something that wasn't an iPod. Well, Apple didn't like that and updated iTunes to kill that. Well today, Palm updated the webOS on the Pre...but here's the hilarious part...see below for an excerpt from Palm's official press release:

Update 1: did we mention it's on? Check out how Palm phrased the iTunes support, emphasis ours:

Oh, and one more thing: Palm webOS 1.1 re-enables Palm media sync.

There's only one way to describe such brazenness: BOOM!

My Tribute

If you don't get it, MJ used to wear tape around these 3 fingers on right hand. I did this up in tribute last night and rocked it @ my bar, Rhino. Speaking of which, I was so glad the DJ played a lot of MJ...I mean he always plays a song or 2...but we must have heard at least 10 songs during the course of the time we were there. :)

R.I.P. MJ from your fan, ML.

Rest In Peace

So here goes...the first time the death of a celebrity has really hit home for me. For as long as I can remember, I have been a Michael Jackson fan. Being born when I did, I still like to think I was named after him...or at least a part of the reason my parents chose Michael. Now everyone knows I love music, that it's a big part of my life, and I own a couple hundred CD's and loads of legal mp3's; but it wasn't only this way. For the longest time, my collection of music consisted of nothing but Michael's music. I probably wore those cassette's I had out...and I will always remember the first CD I owned upon getting a CD player, was replacing my cassette copy of "Dangerous".

Now there was a time where it wasn't cool in America to like him (a lot more "acceptable" when leaving in Germany)...and I honestly didn't always broadcast that I was a fan back then, but I'll be damned if I still wasn't rocking out to his music at home in middle/high school all the way to having "Billie Jean" shuffle through on my iPod's running playlist just yesterday.

Say what you will about his personal life...but this guy was THE man musically. R.I.P. my good friend...my deep love of music came about listening to you all these years. Now I'm gonna put in my MJ mp3 CD and let your music flow out of the GTI.

:(

I haven't told her....

...and wondering if I even should? Time has made the butterflies mostly disappear; but I still find myself thinking about her at least a few times a day. It doesn't help we manage to text each day...although not today.

Le sigh.

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Wow...I forgot what this feeling felt like

I'll get to that subject line in a bit; but I thought I'd give an update on what's kept me away from the blog so much; but what kept the Twitter feed pretty active. That would the fun-filled 5 days (not counting today...since I went back to work) I just went through. Here's some of the thing's I accomplished...many of them firsts!

1. Saw "Up" in 3D
2. Went to The National Zoo
3. Had 2 great nights @ Rhino (my bar)...especially Friday*
4. Lounged at the pool (this is special because I'm usually by myself)
5. Went to a DC United (soccer) game...awesome
6. Saw No Doubt in concert....really awesome
7. Went to the Natural History museum in DC and walked the Mall.

Now, to get back to the subject line. I did all this and more with a friend of mine. She was watching a family member's place out in Maryland, but chose to spend most of her time up here with me. Now this is a girl I've always admired since I first met her almost 3 years ago...and after 5 straight days with her...I'm all discombobulated inside. We have so much in common, from our likes, to our dislikes. I don't want to say I'm in love...but it's damn close to that. I've been slightly depressed since saying bye to her last night...and with every quiet day today at work and after, I've been thinking about her.

Now here's the problem, she lives in VA Beach...which I thought was a problem; but I'm *real* close to letting her know my feelings after she has time to settle in back home and see where it goes. I can tell you I haven't felt like this in awhile...in fact, I don't think I've ever fallen this hard before.

Hi butterflies in my stomach...you're floating around in there like the free flowing skirt she was wearing as we walked The Mall.

*sigh*

Tuesday, June 9, 2009

So VA needs to change the law..

..that says a Governor can't run for a consecutive second term. I'd vote for Tim Kaine again in a heartbeat. Anyways, now that Deeds has come from behind and won the Democratic primary...it's time to research for this November.

And Bath County beating out too Northern Virginians...nice.

More Hulu goodness

I'm been loving the fact that Conan is now the host of the "Tonight Show". While I no longer stay up that late to watch him and Jimmy Fallon do their thing at night, it's awesome to go watch full episodes (or clips like the one below), the next day or so.

PS...I swear I'm not being paid by Hulu or its affiliates. Haha

You know you are running a lot when...

Your shoes look like this:

This is only after 5-6 months of use. Not a fault of the shoe...just me going a bit nutso running. Couldn't happen at a better time though...since I was able to order these $120 Nike's I've been eying the last few months for $75!

Boooo....

Well, got some photos of myself from the 5K on Sunday. Too bad they are tiny and water-marked! Why you ask, because the photographers want almost $30 a picture for a digital download! Now, I'm all about someone making some money...but that is just ridiculous...

Username / Password

For some reason my Twitter app is asking for a username / password when you come to this page. Please ignore it for now (click Cancel). I'm going to give it a couple days; and if I can't fix it...I'll take out the Twitter feed.

Sunday, May 10, 2009

Oh...and one more thing

Respect the roots...and please don't mind the dirty car.

Cool 5K Thingie

Well, I had an awesome 5K this morning up in the Clarendon/Rosslyn sections of Arlington. It was great weather, and even though I'm still hovering the 25-26 minute time frame this year, I felt I ran a very strong one today. Anyways, I thought I'd share the results with you....because it's cool the way they have it set up.

http://www.areep.com/events/prf/

Once there, click:
1. 5k Searchable Results and Course Simulation System
2. Then search by last name (I'm surprisingly the only Lynch that ran the 5K)
3. Once it found my name, click it in the bottom window...once my name show up in the top window area, click "Start Simulation"

Not much to it...but it's very cool nonetheless. Also of note I finished ahead of 536 other people!

Top 5 Favorite Smells

Did a little survey on Facebook and thought I'd share it here:

1. New car
2. Vanilla
3. Cinnabon
4. Salt water
5. Paper mills

Like it? haha

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

And with that...it's gone.

Well, I must say even after being put a back a couple times, tonight's "Scrubs" finale was just what I wanted it to be. I won't even lie to you, I did mist up during the final 10 minutes of the hour long episode. Good bye old friend...it has been real.

:(

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Almost the end...

Well, tomorrow night I say goodbye to a dear friend of mine. That's when my favorite show on the air right now, "Scrubs", has its final episode. One less night of TV for Mikey to watch will be one notable effect of this (it will only be Monday night for the foreseeable future, at least until football season). Anyways, it's been a great 8 (eight!) years...and it has been great to finally have the show in HD this year.

As for the rumors on it possibly coming back? I actually hope not, since Zach Braff is officially done with it...if they must bring it back, it has to be a spin-off only.

Oh well...here's to a great send off tomorrow night!

Saturday, May 2, 2009

Just had to share...

So DSW Shoe Warehouse is one dangerous place...seems like every time I buy a pair of shoes there, they send me a $10 gift certificate to tempt me back in. Anyways, I've been wanting a pair of white Pumas for a while now...and I thought I'd share the bottom of the ones I picked up tonight. Very cool.

Thursday, April 30, 2009

Three Hundred!

I just passed 300 logged running miles with my Nike+ sport kit...which I bought Oct. 07. So that averages out to a 100 miles for each iPod nano during that same time....haha

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

A raise...

...by any other name. It's not much....but I got a raise today from my company. Very cool...especially in this economy! Also, I have the last of my Friday 5K's this week...but no 5K in the District on Sunday. Although I should be running one on Mother's Day in Arlington...from the Clarendon section to Memorial Bridge/Arlington Cemetery.

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Winnar!

So today, I got like the best deal ever. Went to Best Buy over in Tyson's Corner (wanted to go for a drive) to buy a 23" Monitor...picked it up...then on the way to register saw a DS game for 50% off...picked that up too. Went to register, game rang full price, told cashier it was half off. Manager comes over and proceeds to key 50% off.....on the monitor! I then proceeded to hurry up and pay and get the hell out of there! (Monitor was originally $219!)

Now to go walk around the neighborhood and maybe get a Slurpee. :D

Friday, April 24, 2009

woot!

I came this close to walking since I was pushing myself so hard...but I shaved almost a whole minute off the previous 2 5K times! I have one more of these Crystal City runs next Friday...followed by another 5K in the District that Sunday.

And now let the weekend of awesome weather commence!

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Would it kill?

Stores to start selling sleeveless running shirts yet? Mikey needs a couple new ones.

Here's the repaired baby:

The GTI is dangerous to my wallet

So yeah, I had the idea to zip down to Potomac Mills after rush hour to hit the Nike outlet for some running gear. Found some awesome longer running shorts and proceeded to buy 3 pair of them! Then I stopped in the H&M to see all the new items, and proceeded to buy some polos (mostly for work), and a couple other things. To include white pants...the first time I've ever bought any! Now let's see if I'm actually brave enough to wear them (I just know I'll be paranoid about them getting dirty and such).

Anyways, looking forward to normal DC weekend...and another 5K tomorrow evening!

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

She's back!

I'd take pictures but it figures it would be raining today! The GTI looks like nothing happen and even better than when I turned her in...since they cleaned her up! Although, I did pay more out of pocket than I would've wanted to it...still not thrilled about that.

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

It's in...

So the GTI officially started it's repair process yesterday...2 weeks after dropping her off. I'm not sure why I pay State Farm month in and month out if they are going to be so slow to respond to my shop when needed. That being said, I will be paying some money out of pocket...yay. Hopefully I'll be seeing my baby again by this time next week.

Camera happy

So I went gallivanting around the neighborhood today with camera in tow...enjoy!

Oh man...

Not the best time I've had in my 5K career; but it still feels great to kick my own ass.

After a couple hours I cleaned myself up real nice. Haha

5K-O-Rama

It's spring, so that can mean one thing...it's the start of 5K season! The Crystal City Business group is running 5K Fridays starting tonight @ 6:30 and every Friday until May 1st. I'll be running tonight's now that the rain is done and the day turned out beautiful. Unfortunately, I will be missing next week, since I'll be home in Hampton Roads. Wish me luck! :)

So my good friend Don has started his own blog. You can check it out via the link (The Solar Wind), in the bottom right of this page.

Grrrr...

Really not a fan of my insurance company right now. My GTI is still in a holding pattern until State Farm finally decides what they are paying for. I'm actually wishing I just would have came out of pocket on this....almost.

That being said, I went ahead and reserved a rental for next weekend's trip. Blah.

Well...it's been a few days...

I've treating this whole "car in the shop" thing as somewhat of an experiment. Can I live without a car of my own? Of course, the answer is yes; but would I like it? That answer would be no. Even though I haven't been driving my car that much since I moved to the D.C. area, it's still nice to have. Just being without her since Monday has me feigning for a cruise...

After all that, I still foresee the GTI going bye bye within a years time. I'm not sure if a refinance will get her payments down to what I want it to be. So, with school looming ever closer and closer each day, I think it's time to do something I haven't done yet...and that's buy used!

We'll see...

I knew it would happen

That I would join Twitter and not post on the blog as much. Well, at least that's what it appears is happening. In reality, not much is going on. I did finally drop my car off at the body shop today, so I should be car-less here for a week or more. I also wanted to share a picture from when my Grandparent's visited the weekend before last. It's a bit blurry, but you get the idea.

I could've used this last summer...

From Engadget:

"...(they) found an option to enable the "Find My iPhone" service in the MobileMe settings. Unfortunately, that's all we've got, but we wouldn't put it past Cupertino to build some me.com-linked location tracker that'd be the envy of Orwell himself -- hey, that'd be pretty useful if you accidentally left the mobile in a taxi."

Oh man.

It was only a matter of time

In the down time between hanging out with my Grandparent's yesterday, I went to Clarendon and made a quick purchase. You knew it was coming, and if you look at the Twitter feed, you may have already guessed it. Because when I got to hold one, I was sold.

Another cool video

I happen to really like the car too:

How's this for timing?

So everyone knows I'm reading the Chronicles of Narnia, right? Well, after meeting with my other friend just last night for our little book club, I ran across an awesome deal. So, I do my daily check on Amazon, and see that the Deal of the Day is the 2 Narnia films on Blu-Ray for $30! That would normally be around the price of just one...needless to say the order has been placed. :)

Talk about strange timing though...

Can I see your ID?

Can you believe, I was actually carded when buying a video game today!? I'm actually glad to see this happening...and of course, stoked someone thought I looked too young to buy a "Mature"-rated game.

Twitter feed

So, I'm going to try the whole Twitter experiment. It's basically a website where you input whatever you're doing in order to update your friends. I placed a feed on the blog for now which you can find right above my picture.

Deep into a new book...

...and you would never guess what. I'm actually reading "The Chronicles of Narnia", and yes, the whole thing! I've already cleared the first book earlier today, and about to dive into the second. Basically, a friend of mine thought it would be cool to do something different and start a book club of sorts. It's just 2 of us; but she's convinced we may eventually have more members. Well, back to some hardbound goodness (the best way to read!).

Saints Release RB Deuce McAllister

NewOrleansSaints.com
Tuesday, February 17, 2009 - 10:50 AM

The New Orleans Saints have announced the release of running back Deuce McAllister.

McAllister, the first-round draft choice of the Saints in 2001, played in 97 regular season games over eight seasons in New Orleans and is the franchise’s record-holder for touchdowns scored with 55, rushing yards with 6,096, rushing attempts (1,429), rushing touchdowns with 49 and ranks eighth in receptions with 234. His 27 career 100-yard rushing games are the most in team history and he is the only Saints runner to gain 1,000 yards in a season four times, including two Pro Bowl seasons in 2002 and 2003.

“Deuce has meant so much to our organization since we selected him in the first round of the 2001 draft,” said Owner Tom Benson. “He has represented our club with dignity and class, and obviously been a great player – one of our best all-time. He’s earned the respect of everyone in our community for not only what he’s done on the field, but for what he’s done for those who are less fortunate. Saints fans should celebrate his career and his accomplishments, and what we wish for him now is continued success.”

A long-time fan favorite, McAllister missed significant time due to injuries in recent years after first tearing the ACL in his right knee in October 2005 and then suffering an ACL tear in his left knee in the third game of the 2007 season.

“Deuce has had a career defined by both his accomplishments and his exemplary character,” said Owner/Executive Vice President Rita Benson LeBlanc. “He has meant so much to our fans and the region, that we celebrate everything he has accomplished both on and off the field. He will always be part of the Saints’ family, and Deuce will continue to be held in the highest regards within our organization.”

He fought back to help lead the Saints to an NFC South division title in 2006, rushing for 1,057 yards and 10 touchdowns. McAllister also started both playoff games for New Orleans that season, running for 161 yards in the two contests and scoring touchdowns rushing and receiving in the Divisional round victory over Philadelphia.

“Decisions like this are always very difficult ones to make,” said Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis. “Deuce has epitomized hard work, leadership and productivity throughout his career and has been a source of great pride for all of us associated with the team. His records and accomplishments on the field speak for themselves about the type of player he was in a Saints uniform. He truly ranks as one of the greatest players in our club’s history, and we are very respectful of everything he has meant to the Saints and our community.”

“Deuce McAllister epitomizes what you look for in a football player,” said Saints Head Coach Sean Payton. “Deuce played a major role with this team in our drive to the NFC Championship game. He has suffered setbacks with his injuries and that has been unfortunate for him and for us as he has played a critical role in our offense. Today, we start the process of trying to replace him and find that player that embodies what Deuce McAllister has meant to this team.”

McAllister again came back after a lengthy rehabilitation process to run for 418 yards and five scores in 2008. He broke the team’s all-time touchdown record in a November win over Green Bay, passing Dalton Hilliard with his 54th trip to the end zone and later became the first Saint to gain 6,000 career rushing yards.

Not only a leader on the field, McAllister has also been heavily involved in community and business efforts both in New Orleans and in his hometown of Jackson, Miss. over the course of his career. His Catch 22 Foundation has aided countless less fortunate families and children and has been heavily involved in the recovery of the Gulf Coast region following Hurricane Katrina.

3 years...a new record!

Well, it's official, this is the longest I've ever held onto a car. I've now I owned my Volkswagen GTI for 3 years now! I've had this car 3 times longer than its predecessor. Of course, all this comes as I'm looking at replacing it, with something cheaper in order to prepare for my "broke college student" days. Oh, and I still need to get her parking garage injury repaired...yes, I'm slacking!
